Intersolar 2009: SCHOTT Solar stands out with new InDaX 225 module series

·             Next generation roof-integrated PV

·             Plug & play installation

·             First-class appearance and performance

·             Available as of March 2010

Mainz/Munich, May 27, 2009 – SCHOTT Solar announced a completely new generation of modules for roof-integrated solar systems at Intersolar. The modules of the new InDaX 225 Series actually replace conventional roofing tiles and yet perform two different functions: They protect the house from wind and weather at the same time that they produce environmentally friendly electricity – and actually look great, too. With a nominal output of more than 200 W, the new series delivers even more energy to the roof. The new products are expected to be available for purchase starting in March 2010.

The extremely flat construction and clear contours are the first things that attract one’s attention. The modules fit in seamlessly with the overall appearance of the roof and are bolted directly onto the roof battens. A so-called covering frame that meets with the standards of the skylight window industry surrounds the modules and thus ensures that they are connected properly to the surrounding roofing material. The modules are arranged in a shingle array and each one of them is rear ventilated, an aspect that increases energy yields even more.

The 50 years of experience and development expertise SCHOTT Solar has are not only reflected in the output, but also in how the modules are processed. Extremely high-quality bonding technology that was developed for the aircraft industry permanently joins the aluminum frames and laminate together to ensure that the module is capable of withstanding the elements for many years to come.

Installers truly appreciate the light weight of the modules, but also the fact that the InDaX Series can be installed in a “plug & play” manner, thanks to how few components it requires. Unevenness in roofs can even be compensated for by adding a separate rain gutter between the modules. The rain gutter also sees to it that any condensation drains off on the sides.

Although the InDaX System costs as much as on-roof systems, it offers a key advantage in that it replaces the roofing material. In any case, the new SCHOTT InDaX 225 Series represents a worthwhile alternative, both for new buildings, as well as renovation of existing roofs.
